This website, no longer actively maintained, is an artifact of my time at as health and science reporter at WBUR in Boston, and, before that, as the host and founding producer of Radio New Zealand's weekly Eureka! science program.
I also contributed to the New York Times, The Economist, New Scientist, Discover, Marketplace, Day to Day, Living on Earth, Studio 360 and Morning Edition, the BBC World Service and Radio Netherlands International, made the documentary "Grey Ghost" (2002), taught briefly at Northeastern University School of Journalism and received an Edward R Murrow Award. I trained in pharmacy and specialized in oncology at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario. Later, I was a senior medical writer with Adis International.
I am currently based in Washington, DC, directing the medical safety portfolio for the Pew Health Group at The Pew Charitable Trusts.
